Storytelling for Clean Cooking Impact | Field Training for Journalists in Uganda

On July 15, 2025, media professionals from across Uganda joined a one-day field training designed to strengthen their capacity to tell powerful, people-centered stories about clean cooking and energy transition. Organized by Green Lens Uganda, in partnership with the National Renewable Energy Platform (NREP), Uganda National Alliance on Clean Cooking (UNACC), Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), Clean Cooking Uganda (CCU), and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development (MEMD) — the training blended theory with real-world field practice. From Sanyu Babies Home in Kampala — where electric pressure cookers have replaced firewood and charcoal — to The Cookstove Project in Kisoga, Mukono — where over 31,000 Lorena stoves have been built for families across Uganda — and finally to Green Bioenergy in Kabembe — where briquettes and improved stoves are produced for communities — this field practicum immersed journalists in Uganda’s clean energy journey.
