Ellen: Hey everyone. I'm Ellen here at eachtrailer.com. And today we're taking a quick look at the Thule Van Lock. So this is going to help to keep your van secure while you're out on the road, have a little bit of extra robustness for your vehicle. As anybody traveling out on the road knows whenever you've got a van full of stuff, it's an easy target for would be thieves. So by having an extra lock, it's going to be an extra deterrent, make it harder for people to get in there and steal your gear, maybe music equipment, your hiking gear or anything else of value that you might have inside your van, including the van itself. So it's going to keep everything secure inside there. It's going to have this black Thule logo piece. So it basically slides over our lock. So it slide over like this and it's going to span between your door.So whether that's a sliding door or a rear hatch door, whatever the case might be. I'm not going to slide this on there because these two little pores, once you slide this on, it's really hard to get back off. So that's something to keep in mind. They advise that you do not preassemble the lock before you have it installed, but it's going to slide over this kind of ball, detent these two little Springs. They're going to catch it, so you do have to push those down as you slide this over. That catches it to prevent that from sliding all the way off, but it'll come back to about this point and allow you to open that door easily. It comes with the two keys, as well as the eight screws it takes to Mount this in place and also a template sticker. So it's hard to see just because I have the camera turned up there, but this is going to have cutouts for our eight holes so you can get the proper spacing on this.So clean off the surface that you want to mount this to, mount the sticker there, drill your holes out and then place the two base pieces on and put your hardware in place, then the little plugs. To plug that up, make sure that it has a nice watertight seals. No water is going to get in there and cause any issues. And then the lock over the top. So it really simple to install all you really need. As far as tools is just one power drill, but a five millimeter drill bit I believe is what they specify in the instructions. Of Course it does come with instructions from Thule on how to get that installed with their typical wordless pictures. But it does a pretty good job in lining out how exactly you're supposed to do that.I Think it's definitely going to make a big difference as far as keeping your van highly secure and also prevent that theft from occurring. Again, you get the two keys. To unlock this, it's going to have the one side that locks, but that in there it's going to spring open, drop down that pores at the top. To unlock it and you can bring your key back out and then just push in that cylinder to lock that back in place. It is covered by a two year warranty from Thule. And that's about all there is to it. As far as the measurement for how long. This is going to be. I'm going to use the template as my guide here. It's about six inches long as far as what that's going to require with inaudible 00:03:20. And then each of these bases about two and a quarter wide and about one and five-eighth inches tall. It's hard to say as far as the height coming off of there. Oh, one to five-eight inches.So, pretty compact. Looks pretty slick, I mean, Thule is known for their nice high quality designs. So it doesn't look too obtrusive on your vehicle.
