Bill Monroe & Kenny Baker @ Indian Springs Bluegrass Festival June 1976 Part 1 of 7 in this series from The Indian Springs Maryland BGF from 1976*. *I have been informed that this show can not be from 1976 so it must be from an earlier year..... Duncan & I went to this with tape recorder in hand but Mother Nature would not cooperate and it rained so long and so hard that by the end of the weekend there was more than one 4X4 buried up to their windows! Obviously we could not record anything and we sat in the car for most of the show missing a lot, including some of this here. Thanks to WAMU-FM for recording this and broadcasting it the very next weekend so I was home with the Fisher tube receiver and my new Teac A-400. As things go, it was another terrible rainy weekend and so my reception drops out for a moment of two here & there on this series. Started in 1973, The Indian Springs BGF went on for about 5-6 years. 1975 and 1976 were huge years for bluegrass festivals and on the East coast they would very often be "taken over" by the local Motorcycle gangs and/or the promoter would run-off with the cash before the end, leaving chaos and destruction. - Not that many didn't go off without a hitch, also.
