I went back to play GTA IV 17 years after it's release to review what it was and see if it felt any different. Before it's release Rockstar had built a great foundation but this game changed what GTA was forever. The atmosphere, the world Rockstar built, it was truely incredible for it's time. The people you meet in GTA IV were some of the best written characters we have ever gotten in a video game, when your young they are funny and quirky but as and adult you see the deeper construction of their identies. The story telling is about consequnce with the under lying metaphor that history will repeat it's self and sometimes you cannot change who you truely are deep down inside. This revisting of GTA IV isn't about reliving your childhood or about wanting that hit of nostalgia it is about realising what you missed and seeing how much you have changed over all these years.
