How disasters devastate least developed countries — and how we can prevent it | UNDRR

🌍 Disasters are devastating least developed countries (LDCs). Floods, storms, droughts, and erosion are wiping away years of progress in just hours. ➡️ In 2020 alone, disasters displaced 8.5 million people in LDCs. ➡️ LDCs lose on average 10% of GDP to disasters. ➡️ Yet only 4.1% of disaster financing goes to prevention and preparedness. The human cost is immense: families losing homes, livelihoods, and entire communities. But it doesn’t have to be this way.
