Hey everyone, Ryan here at etrailer. Today on our 2023 Audi Q5, we're gonna be showing you how to install the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver. Before we do that though, let's take a minute and check this one out. So having a hitch back here, it's gonna let you tow your trailer around or these all different types of accessories whether it be a bike rack or a cargo carrier, something like that. Probably the first thing that would come to my mind is how's the hitch gonna look on the back of my Audi 'cause these really sharp cars, right And with this one I don't think it looks too bad at all to be honest. For the most part it's gonna be completely hidden and you're really just gonna be able to see the receiver tube opening. Pretty much all the other hitches are gonna look extremely similar to the Draw-Tite here. Probably the main difference being the finish of it. I do like the etrailer one a little bit better how it looks. It has a matte black finish, it kind of matches the plastic on the bumper a little bit better. But you know, that's for you to decide. Now if you're someone that's going for the ultimate appearance, right, you don't wanna see this back here at all, maybe you don't use the hitch that often or there are a couple options that have a detachable receiver tube so when you're not using it, you can drop it down and you won't see anything. But when you are ready just goes right back up into position and out of the ones that can do that, honestly I'm a fan of the Stealth hitch. They're really well made and always a good fit. We do get a lot of people asking if the hitch is gonna interfere with the hands free lift gate assist feature, and the answer is no. You know, as long as you kick your foot to either side of the receiver tube opening, the sensor will pick up that motion and open up the hatch. This particular hitch is gonna work with all the different submodels of the Q5 including the hybrids. So nothing to worry about there. And it is gonna have a two inch by two inch opening, which is a good thing. Extremely common size. So a lot of different things will work with it. It will use the standard 5/8 pin and clip. Keep in mind though, the hitch doesn't come with one. If you need it, not a huge deal, you can get it here at each trailer. A lot of times too if you end up buying a new accessory will come with one. So something to look out for there. And the safety chain openings are a loop style. They're pretty robust actually and large enough to allow you to use just about any size hook that your trailer might have on it. The hitch is gonna give us some really high weight capacities. Maximum gross tongue weight rating is gonna be 750 pounds, which is the amount of weight pushing down on the hitch. And with that you should be fine using pretty much any size bike rack or cargo carrier just to give you an example. And for the maximum gross trailer weight rating, that's gonna be 5,000 pounds, which is the amount of weight pulling on the hitch. So that is a weight of your trailer plus anything that you might have in or on it. Now I do always like to suggest never a bad idea just to grab your Audi's owner's manual. That way you can check in there and make sure that your Q5 can handle that amount of weight safely. We'll grab a couple measurements now and these will help us figure out what type of accessories will work best. If you go from the ground to the top inside edge of the receiver tube opening, that's gonna be about 15-1/2 inches. So for those of you pulling a trailer, you can probably use a ball mount that has a straight shank, maybe even a very slight rise an inch. Something like that should work well in most scenarios. If you got an accessory with a straight shank, I think you're fine. Or if you have one with the rise in it, even better, buy you some more ground clears, right You go from the center of the hitch pin hole to the edge of the rear bumper, that's gonna be about four inches, which is pretty good. So you shouldn't really run into too many issues here, but if need be you can use that to help figure out exactly if any of those folding type accessories that you might have can be stored upright without hitting the back of your Audi. Other than that, it's really all there is to it. You know, it's a good all around hitch, looks good and you can use it to do a lot of diff
