After his father was gunned down and killed, Conrad Donald, "Big D" Garcia wanted to become a police officer. Instead, Big D turned to heroin and vented his anger in gang life. In prison he was a founding member of what would become one of the biggest, most feared gangs in history, the Mexican Mafia. He became a boxing champion in San Quentin State Prison, and every other facility he entered. But he performed his most serious acts of violence out of the ring. After serving more than 30 years, Big D had become a prison celebrity. His conversion to Christianity shook the bars of prison cells from Folsom to San Quentin. ============================================================================== I'm Chris Ahrens and I interviewed Big D several times for the documentary film I directed D.O.P.E.
