In this Sunday community class, we explore decolonization as an ongoing influence on how we think, relate, and live. Drawing inspiration from Sacred Instructions by Sherri Mitchell, we look at how colonization shapes beliefs about authority, success, belonging, and power. We focus especially on dependency within paternalistic systems and how obedience, compliance, and helplessness can become embodied patterns in our nervous systems. Through somatic mindfulness and gentle inquiry, we reflect on what it means to reclaim responsibility for our choices, values, and actions, without shame. This session invites awareness, self-trust, and a reconnection with inner authority, collective care, and life-centered values. Introduction and Orientation (0:00) Welcome and framing decolonization as an ongoing inner and collective process. Colonization as an Invisible System (2:40) How inherited beliefs shape authority, success, and belonging. Separation and Inner Authority (6:30) Layers of separation from land, Source, and inner knowing. Food, Water, and Life Systems (9:50) How control of essentials creates dependency and vulnerability. Decolonizing Value Systems (12:50) Placing the value of life above profit through daily choices. Ritual, Ceremony, and Belonging (19:00) Disruption of ritual as a tool of control and the role of healing practices. Dependency and Paternalistic Systems (22:40) How obedience, helplessness, and compliance are conditioned. Reclaiming Personal and Collective Power (24:30) Somatic inquiry into responsibility, agency, and aligned action.
