One of the easiest foundations to build is a gravel foundation. It is a desirable foundation type due to the fact that it substantially reduces cost, time, labor and the need for cement and rebar. All foundations needs to address drainage and an even load distribution, which can certainly be achieved with a gravel foundation. Frank Lloyd Wright was a fan of the rubble or gravel-trench foundation, however it has largely been ignored by conventional builders, who opt for the conventional poured-concrete monolithic foundations.
