How much breast tissue do I need in order to have a breast lift? Follow my other channel for new plastic surgery content: https://www.youtube.com/@doctorrickym... For starters, let's define what a breast lift is. The true name for it is a MASTOPEXY. This procedure includes raising sagging breasts upon the chest of the woman. This is done by changing and modifying the size, contour, and elevation of the breasts. When we do a consultation with a patient, here are a few things we're looking for: Is the nipple at or above the crease? This would be considered a grade 1 ptosis. If the patient is getting an augmentation, this may be enough to achieve the desired outcome. Grade 2 ptosis would be if the nipple was sitting at or just below the nipple. A grade 3 ptosis would be where the majority of the breast has fallen below the crease and the nipple is at the lowest point, sometimes even pointing at the floor. There's another level of ptosis, grade 4 ptosis or pseudo ptosis, where the nipple is actually sitting in an ideal position but there's still a large amount of breast tissue sitting below the fold. This is usually treated but removing a lower wedge of skin below the breast and isn't treated with a traditional mastopexy. Is it possible to get the shape you're looking for with a breast lift alone? That's always going to be specific to the patient but a majority of patients combine this procedure with breast augmentation. In the end, it doesn't have anything to do with the quantity of your tissue, it all comes down to the position of the nipple.
