MHF1: Solo Kill - 8★ (G) Ashen Lao-Shan Lung (SnS)

Fight starts at 01:00, finale starts at 19:14. Some notes: You can technically mount Lao in area 1 and 3 to get some carves off his back while still killing him, but that cuts the time limit really tight, and in my experience is really inconsistent - sometimes you just phase through him while you fall. Also, the items you can get this way aren't the greatest... Sometimes Lao can spam the ram attack once he is at the fort, especially when he's enraged. This can deplete the fort health in no time. If fort integrity falls below 30%, I recommend focussing on his head when he's on all fours. The stagger limit for the head is extremely low, causing him to flinch a lot more often, which causes him to retreat. Do keep in mind that the head takes a lot less damage than the stomach, though. Ballistas DO deal damage, even though there is no hit sound and barely any visible effect. Just MHF1 things. I realize that I am using the final Fatalis SnS here. The truth is, killing Lao is pretty much impossible with rank-appropriate gear. I assume Eternal Strife (SnS) and Eternal Schism (DB) can probably do the trick if you get lucky during the finale, i.e. he does not spam the ram attack and rarely stands on his back feet. I suggest just going for a repel the first time you face him at this rank. Monster Hunter Freedom © Capcom, 2007
