Riding the Trans Euro Trail (TET) in Serbia started off beautifully – soft forest tracks, open fields, and some gentle descents. But soon the terrain got serious. I found myself crawling down a long, steep section before following a rough stony track along the river, even passing through an railway tunnel. The scenery was absolutely stunning – one of those unforgettable moments on the trail. But then came the real challenge: the climb. Loose rocks, steep steps, and no grip at all. I tried, I struggled, and eventually I dropped the bike while attempting to roll back. It was simply too much for me. Sometimes the TET wins. I had no choice but to turn around, head back to a small road I had crossed earlier, and take the asphalt all the way to the fast road. From there, I searched for a hotel – ending the day not quite as planned, but safe and with lessons learned.
