The government has recently issued guidelines aimed at preventing unnecessary hysterectomies in response to a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Dr. Narendra Gupta. This move by the government is seen as a necessary step to enhance monitoring and evaluation procedures surrounding hysterectomy surgeries in the country. The guidelines provide various management modalities to guide clinicians on alternative therapy options to avoid unnecessary hysterectomies.
