Clear cell ovarian cancer, also known as clear cell carcinoma of the ovary, is a rare and aggressive subtype of epithelial ovarian cancer. It accounts for approximately 6–12% of ovarian cancers and is often associated with endometriosis2. Key Features: Histology: Tumor cells appear transparent under the microscope due to their clear cytoplasm. They may also exhibit tubulocystic, papillary, or solid growth patterns. Genetics: Mutations in genes like ARID1A, PIK3CA, and PTEN are commonly found in clear cell ovarian cancer. Symptoms: Abdominal bloating, pelvic pain, back pain, loss of appetite, and changes in menstrual cycles are common. Blood clots, such as deep vein thrombosis, may also occur3. Diagnosis: Imaging studies like ultrasound or CT scans. Biopsy and histopathological examination to confirm the diagnosis. Blood tests to check for tumor markers. Treatment: Surgery to remove the tumor, often combined with chemotherapy. Clear cell ovarian cancer tends to be resistant to standard platinum-based chemotherapy, making treatment challenging #OvarianCancers
