Taichi/Qigong on Zoom Hosted by Lanakila Multipurpose Senior Center Sunday, August 4, 2024 Part 1/1 Tai Chi for Health Institute: Arthritis for Fall Prevention-Seated 1. Important Practice Reminders 2. TCAF Warmups 3. TCAF Extended 41 4. Breakdown of Single Whip & Brush Knee/Repulse Monkey Movements 00:00:00 Titles 00:00:53 Introduction End "Every move should have a meaning" Take your time to explore and understand each movement. In Martial Arts, moves should have both health and self defense applications. Some movements may seem like they only develop the body (muscle or flexibility or muscle memory) but the movement should exist in an application. When training, take your time to layer as many "skills" into each movement and understand your purpose for doing a movement a certain way. It's not right or wrong but different. What's the purpose? More Health? More Medical Qigong? More muscle development? Speed? Timing? Meditation? Self Defense Application? Don't be afraid to modify and improve the art. Allow muscles to expand then imagine something pulling the muscles. ie: cables connected to the fingertips, pulling the fingertips ie: muscles on the side of the spine, pulling the spine in one direction, then releasing so the spine and body "springs" back to center, then "grabbing" the spine and pulling in the other direction. ie: Something pulling the hand up or down, pushing the hand up or down Please remember that Safety is always number 1. Consult your health and medical professionals before starting any exercise program. Take breaks as needed and ask questions if you're not sure if you're doing something properly.
