The Dyno testing was at VAMI Venice Auto Marine. Please check them out https://www.facebook.com/search/top?q... Tested the VRS-4150 on 512ci Mopar BB, 10.75 compression, Trickflow 240 heads, 1.5 roller rockers on hydraulic roller cam, Comp Cam 440-252258 (.571, 252I 258E @.50, 110deg), Victor 440 single plane, 2” into 3.5” fender well headers, timing (18deg initial, all in by 2100 35deg total), 93 octane. We warmed up the motor on a Holley/Pro-form 850, made several jet changes, best power 607hp, 623tq Findings: We bolted the carb down right out of the box, no adjustments. The fuel floats were perfect and it fired off instantly. Idle air mixture screws were so close that no adjustment was done. The idle set screw had the idle at 900rpm, no adjustment done. On idle the AFR was high 13s at transition it climbed to 17s and was shut down. We called Edelbrock they recommended changing the jets from .068 to .074. Sweep 24: 614hp@5500, 628ftlbs@4500 AFR 12.30-13.22 Best hp motor has ever made. AFR started to lean above 5,000. Called Edelbrock, recommended changing the inner most air bleeds from .030 to .026 Sweep 25: 608hp@5700, 635ftlbs@4400 AFR 12.53-13.54 This change gained 8ftlbs, however it leaned the mixture .2-.4 across the range. so we reversed the change and then added one more Jet size , .074 to .075 Sweep 26: 610hp@5700, 637ftlbs@4400 AFR 12.15-13.13 Best tq the motor has made. AFR flattened out mid 12s 90% of the range. We are happy here, safe AFR and flat tq. Right off the bat everyone including me is a little bit shocked that this is not the Performer or AVS platform. They are making a 4150 carburetor! And that’s because they’re car people. They know that if they make a new carburetor based on a platform that has been around for a long time then people can use their parts and their tuning knowledge and this wont be so hard to get into and they can save some money. Edelbrock has put millions of dollars into developing a 4150 that has all of the features of the best aftermarket 4150 and Dominator performance carburetors and the ease of use of the best street rod carburetors. Right off the bat the first thing everyone sees are all of these air bleeds, there are 16 air bleeds. that means there are four circuits in this carburetor! That means you can tune a carburetor for the perfect air fuel mixture at all points of the throttle position. There’s an idle circuit, a transition throttle, a mid throttle and a wide open throttle circuit! 12 port annular boosters on all four corners! again people who know aftermarket carburetors and have gone from a single dog leg to an annular booster carburetor know what that does and know how that improves the throttle response and the snappiness and it’s on all four corners now! There is a throttle positioning sensor built into the carb!!! so you can do data logging or for people who are running newer transmissions that need that TPS for the kickdowns. The base is drilled for both 4150 and Dominator bolt patterns. It has the larger fuel bowls with glass sights on all four corners. It has dual fuel Inlets on both sides with AN fittings. They built in drain plugs for the bowls so when you’re at the track and you want to change some jets it’s easy to drain the fuel. There’s timed vacuum ports on both sides and metered vacuum ports. And because their car people they built it on a platform where you can use all your jets and power valves and squirter‘s and accelerator springs and gaskets, that will all work on this new carburetor. And now you can see why I am completely floored by what they are trusting me to do. they are literally trusting me to help announce a completely new direction for their carburetor business. it is a new platform. it is solving a massive problem in the carburetor industry and when I say they are trusting me to do this. I really mean that. They gave me no boundaries here. They didn’t give me a script they didn’t give me any parameters other than I had to call it by it’s name which is a VRS! They handed me this box with no strings attached. They handed this to me and just said it’s yours do whatever you want with it. I mean I haven’t been around that long but I cannot imagine a mega corporation trusting someone like me to do this. This is gonna be outrageous! GO EDELBROCK!!!!!
