And I'll be dead before the day is done." --------- 720p please or katniss will shoot an arrow at an apple... near your head. -------- a video that focuses on the captiol's exploitation and torture of the children of panem for their own gain, and how they warp innocent lives, along with end them. ------- WARNING: this video contains extreme hints of violence and death, and graphic scenes, mostly involving children. ----- ugh, so lets just talk about this movie for a second. ever since i read the book in may of last year, i have been itching to vid this. and that was before a single image had been released of the film. the wait has been agonizing, but finally, over a year later, i have produced my first full-length THG vid :D obv, this song is a tad over-used imo. i actually wanted to do a different song (one that i've been planning since i first read the book, but that will come later), but the inspiration for this one randomly struck. after the movie released i had planned to do a careers-centric vid with this song since the lyrics fit them so perfectly (especially the last verse, with the "slave your hearts, take your souls" and whatnot), but i realized that it could fit the entire movie. what i love about what gary ross did with the film, was that he really kicked home that these are CHILDREN being forced to kill each other. even in the opening bloodbath, it wasn't some big enjoyable action sequence with intense music meant to excite the viewer. it was a horrifying, chilling, and incredibly uncomfortable scene to watch, that pushes across that these innocent kids are being forced to murder each other. another thing i love, was that he really brought up the moral questions about the careers. asides from clove's death, they're painted out to be mostly villains in the book. however, in the film, he points out that once again, they're just children, who have been taken, shaped, and moulded into killers by their own government (cato's death scene obv is the main source of that), and these are all things i wanted to get across in this vid. this is probably the most emotionally heavy and intense vid i've ever done, but i enjoyed every second of making it. i loved the subject matter, the song was great to work with (and is just an incredible song in general), and i'm pretty proud of this one. though please excuse the shitty colouring, the perils of being stuck on premiere pro. anyway, i hope you all enjoy, and let me know what you think!
