Simon Prinsloo OpenEdge JMS Adapter 12.x: Running the interactive product as a Linux service. In pre-v12 OpenEdge, the SonicMQ Adapter was running as a real service, and it was managed with the adaptman utility. With the advent of OpenEdge 12, the product was replaced by the more generic OpenEdge® JMS Adapter 12.x, allowing the ABL to access any JMS-compliant vendor solution. It does however run as an interactive process and there is no longer a Name Server. This poses a problem for sites where the PASOE needs to interact with JMS services using the Broker Connect mode, as the OpenEdge® JMS Adapter needs to run as a service in order to be available in an unattended mode for the PASOE. Recently TVH Parts Holding NV, Belgium, commissioned a workaround to enable the OpenEdge® JMS Adapter12.x to be run and managed as a Linux service. The solution was consequently open sourced under the Apache License v.2. This session explores the solution with examples and a demonstration.
