RIPA. A docudrama on life in Viking Ripa, Denmark. Ripa was the Viking name of Denmark's and Scandinavia's oldest town Ribe, which was founded in 705 AD. With an ideal location in Western Denmark close to the Wadden Sea and the North Sea, Ripa very soon became a popular and prosperous market town and port. Through commercial relations, Christianity was slowly introduced in Denmark, and around 850 AD, the missionary Ansgar received permission to build a church in Ripa. Ribe VikingeCenter is a living history centre with reconstructions showing Viking Ripa's development from 710 AD until 980 AD. The docudrama RIPA was filmed in Ribe VikingeCenter.
