In our July/August issue, we profile Jonathan Nicozisis, DMD, MS. Here, Nicozisis, who is in private practice in Princeton, NJ, talks to Orthodontic Products about what the iTero digital workflow brings to his treatment planning and case acceptance in his practice. In addition, he talk about what it means to have an orthodontic supply company as your marketing partner. Nicozisis explains how his preference for Invisalign clear aligners and the iTero intraoral scanner goes beyond what the workflow can do for case acceptance and more efficient treatment. He shares how “Align is a true business partner, driving awareness and people into my practice.” But more than that, he appreciates that they are driving consumer awareness of the importance of a doctor-centered treatment plan. Nicozisis then goes on to talk about the tools he is is using in conjunction with the latest generation of the iTero Intraoral scanner—the iTero Element, including the Invisalign Photo Uploader and iTero Scan Report apps as well as the iTero Occulsalgram and Invisalign Outcome Simulator tools. He also shares how the iTero Digital workflow and treating the majority of is practice with aligners (in the last 6 months he’s bumped up the percentage of aligner vs braces cases in his practice from 85% to 90%) allows his practice to function at fully capacity even when down a few staff members, including a treatment coordinator, something he couldn’t do with braces. Nicozisis also shares why he refuses to treat anterior open bite cases with braces and why he also prefers aligners for his early treatment cases. Finally Nicozisis explains what the iTero digital workflow brings to his practice as a small business owner and how to convey to patients that it isn’t the technology treating the patient, but the orthodontist.
