However, when I consume carbonated water, my digestion is better. It could be because: • Carbonic acid could buffer the pH • It acidifies the digestive system Bottled water pH — 7 Perrier pH — 5.5-5.8 Coca Cola pH — 2.5 Battery acid pH — 1.0 When you go below 7, things are more acidic. Because the stomach has the lowest pH of any part of the body, carbonic acid being a weak acid, might be better than regular water for some people.
