Here's an interesting piece. I thought I would video some work I wanted to do on a nice piece of West Texas Chert that my friend Rodger recently gave to me and as I worked it a big flaw in the stone emerged. Not being one that gives up easily I kept chipping away at it until I ended up with a 4 1/4" paper-thin Dalton point. The flaw still was visible but the point didn't break because of it. All-in-all, I think the point came out OK. So here is a look at what I found in the stone and what I made with it. I had originally hoped to make a notched point to explain in more detail my notching process, but that will have to wait for another video!
