Here I have a review of the latest Hub from BT: The BT Home Hub Version 3 which I got as an upgrade from my old BT Home Hub 1. Hope you enjoy :) Rough Script: Hey YouTube, Hope you're all doing OK. Recently I decided to upgrade my Hub from the old BT Home Hub 1 to the latest model, Version 3. I wasn't planning on switching service provider, because I was fairly happy with the service I was receiving, but that's for another video. However I did get the new Home Hub. So as you can see, it has this small, low impact form factor at 110 x 185 millimetres. Its finished with this matte black and this kinda shiney front panel. It features three front lights which are primarily blue, when everything's working, but they flash red, purple and various other colours if problems occur. If we take a look at the back, we can see the ports. We have a power socket, USB. It doesn't seem to be clear what the USB port on the back is supposed to do, I can't get it to work with my printer which isn't a problem because its wi-fi enabled, but the only useful thing I have managed to get it to do is by plugging in a USB stick you can have a small amount of file storage accessible to anyone on the network. To see how to do this, click the annotation on your screen now! Three Ethernet ports compatible up to 100 megabits per second. But the forth Ethernet port is a Gigabit Ethernet so compatible up to 1 gigabit per second which is pretty nice. Finally we have our broadband line in weather your using conventional ADSL or you're lucky enough to have BT infinity rolled out in your area. As far as buttons go, on the back we have a power switch, Wireless WPS and a Restart button. Finally another cool feature on the back is this pull out tab at the top which gives you easy access to the Wireless Key if you have friends over and you want to give them access to your network without the hassle of turning your hub upside down or anything. The hub itself was really easy to set-up, I just plugged in the new transformer, transferred over my old broadband line, plugged in my Desktop's Ethernet cable, turned it on and It works great! Connecting other devices on Wi-Fi was easy with the product key stickers that were provided with the hub. This hub is supposed to have BT's best Wi-Fi signal ever because it constantly monitors Wi-Fi channels and moves to another if there is too much interference. It also has strong N technology which allows for a reliable connection throughout my house. It is defiantly improved over my old hub and I have to be on the other side of my street before I drop connection which is pretty cool. The Home Hub has many settings which you can configure from the Wireless Access Key to the operating channel and the power saving mode. It also uses a relatively small amount of power, half the power of an energy-efficient light bulb in fact which is pretty cool and switches to "low power mode" when not connected. Speed wise, I've seen an improvement from my old hub which gave me about 7mbps to 14mpbs which is what BT say I should expect to get. I've had no problems with the hub so far and it seems to be working great.
