If you want to turn and make a square end (not at an angle) you need to go in the second stitch when you turn (the first one that is not the loop you need to find behind your thumb) and add one or two (or maybe three) more stitches in the same loop after that. I have not gotten the hang of turning and getting a straight side, so I can't give you much more advice than that. If you get an uneven edge you can nalbind around the edge at the end to smooth it out.
