To connect cylindrical battery cells (like type 18650) into modules, wire bonding is the leading technology. We discuss why, and we show how newcomers to the industry can easily enter this field even without any previous know-how of wire bonding. For both small battery packs as used in mobile tools, or for large battery packs as used in automotive applications, we can assist in building up technology mastery as well as production facilities. F&S Bondtec is unique in supplying equipment for both production and testing of wire bonds for the connection of battery cells in modules. The production equipment comes in a variety of working areas and automation levels, with the added benefit of tailor-made automation that can even be retrofitted at the customer site at any time.
