During a family holiday to Fuerteventura this November, I could not resist the urge to go and play in tropical waters when the wind picked up. I was staying in Caleta de Fuste and I took some of my own gear just in case I did want to go. Unfortunately I popped my wing the first day I tried so I had to get public transport to Correlejo which wad around 90 minutes by public transport from Caleta de Fuste. I managed to find a rental shop right on Waikiki beach in Correlejo called Ventura Surf and within a minute of talking to them I knew that I was in good hands. They specialised in North and had a huge collection of boards, foils and wings of many different sizes. Although I had not used one this size before I decided to rent a 68 litre board to make me neutral in the water. I also went for a carbon mast for the first time to see what the hype is all about but it be honest I didn't really notice much difference between carbon and aluminum? For my front foil I went for something similar to what I ride at home so a 900cm2 was my weapon of choice for part one as they were happy for you to Come In and change equipment if you wanted. Wing wise I went for a 4.2m as the wind was lovely and constant blowing around 16knots with gusts of 20 :) Also my first time With a boom which I have mixed feelings about as despite hurting my hands it was great to be able to put them exactly where I needed depending on what I was doing at the time. The water was around 20c in temp so only a 3mm wetsuit needed and the swell in the middle was massive so so Enjoy part one as I have many more to come :)
