Learn how to make our Bestselling Winter Bucket Hat. A complete pattern and tutorial.

A fabulous bucket hat to keep your face and glasses dry from everything that winter and cold damp weather will throw your way. Made from medium weight polar fleece or knitted winter fabrics, you will love this hat! Great for your sewing business too! The free pattern is available in the average woman's head size of 22.5 inches or 57.5 cm. Men can wear this hat too! Without any decoration, the hat is unisex in fun plaids and prints. I show you how to make the two trims using a stretchy lace to jazz up the band. One trim is a simple knot and the other a bow with built in bow casing. Hat has a deep fit to help protect your ears. You can trim a bit from the band depth if you prefer to have the hat sit up a bit higher, just above your ears and eyebrows, or you can wear the hat on a slight tilt down more at the back. The top is the usual top from our series of "Winter" named hats (cap, toque, cloche) and I also recycle the band from the "Winter Cloche" to use in this hat. The bucket brim is new and will be used in a few more hat videos coming up for rain and sun hats. My Bow Measurement in the video- Casing is about 1.5" (35mm)wide and I use a piece that is about 5"(125mm) long to start and then I trim to fit. Bow piece is 5 1/8" (13 cm) wide by 3" (77mm) deep.
