Largest rock sculpture in Europe! Chipul lui

This is a video covering the return home to #Romania after a 3 day and 3 country road trip to Serbia, Croatia and Bosnia Herzegovina. The video picks up after entering Romania via the Naidas border crossing from Serbia, in the West-South-West of Romania. Its further West than the Drobeta-Turnu-Severin crossing which most people and freight use, called the Iron Gates. The stretch of road back East is about 160kms and literally contours the Danube River the whole way and takes about 2hrs 30mins from the border crossing at Naidas to the entrance to Turnu Severin and back on the E70 all the way to Bucharest via Craiova, Caracal and Alexandria. This section of road is beautiful, the drive is interesting, the road has a lot of variety and the scenery is stunning. The road runs at the level of the Danube the whole way so you get a very good view of the River and feel like you are driving with it. On the Serbian side, the road sits much higher for a lot of the drive so you cant see the river as it is below you. Also the Romanian side has a lot more in terms of spots to stop, rest, eat, rent a 'pensiunea' or guest house room right on the river etc. The views are just beautiful and one of the main attractions on the way back in between the villages of Dubova and Elsenita, is the largest stone rock carving in Europe and the second largest in the world. The carving is of the face of #Decebalus, the last King of Dacia, who is a national Romanian hero, for his battles against the Roman Empire and Emperor Trajan. His battles with the Romans dated from 102 AD to 105 AD, that shows how much history Romania has, its long and complex, but absolutely special and intriguing as a result. The carving, 'Chipul lui Decebal' or Decebal's face in Romanian, took 10 years to carve by one sculptor assisted by 11 others. It is located in a really awesome area of the Danube and can be seen from across the River on the Serbian side. You can rent boats to get up close and go further down the river and sight seeing boats from Serbia also come close with tourists to have a look, given the border runs down the middle of the Danube (Dunarea in Romanian). I think the area around Dubova has a lot of choice for renting a place to stay, the Pensiunea Decebal looks very cool. P.S. if this gets you some business, hook me up with a room with a view lol. If anyone knows any hidden gems please let me know. So certainly drive this section if you are thinking of going to Serbia by road, don't go in and out of Serbia the same way.
