WHAT DO YOU DO when a long-running show loses one of its main cast members? For series like STARGATE SG-1 and STARGATE ATLANTIS it meant replacing beloved characters with fresh faces. It happened when Jack O'Neill left, when Daniel Jackson ascended and Jonas Quinn joined the team, when Samantha Carter left Atlantis after just a one-year tour ... and when other fan favorites were killed off in the course of the story. In this conversation with "Dial the Gate," long-time series writer and executive producer Robert C. Cooper talks about changing up the cast of both SG-1 and ATLANTIS. Most of the time, one actor left and another came on board out of necessity – because of things happening behind the scenes.
