Chief Akunwata Ozoemena Nsugbe, also known as the "Ikemba Awka Special," was a popular Igbo highlife musician from Nigeria. He was born on April 1, 1954, in Nsugbe, a town in Anambra State, Nigeria, and began his music career in the 1970s. Nsugbe was known for his unique style of highlife music, which incorporated elements of traditional Igbo music, as well as Western influences. His music was characterized by his powerful vocals, the use of the guitar, horn section, and percussion instruments. Some of his most popular songs include "People's Club of Nigeria," "Onye Ikekwere Mekeya," "Ije Enu," "Akwa Ego," and "Ogene Ndi Ara." He released numerous albums throughout his career, and his music continues to be popular among Igbo people and lovers of highlife music in Nigeria and beyond. Sadly, Chief Akunwata Ozoemena Nsugbe passed away on March 29, 2015, at the age of 61.
