Though he aggressively seeks to sift believers and undermine their faith, he can act only within the limits God allows, while Christ continually intercedes for His people. Jesus’ prayer for Peter shows that even when believers stumble, their faith will not ultimately fail because of the Lord’s preserving grace and restoring power. Through submission to God and resistance to the devil, believers are strengthened, restored, and equipped to stand firm and strengthen others in their faith.
