Bear climbs tree in Apple Valley, CA; brought down safely

Update 1 PM: CA Fish and Wildlife successfully tranquilized and removed the bear. It is reported to be doing well and is now on its way to a licensed rehabilitation facility. Update 10:55 AM: CA Fish and Wildlife has additional staff on the way and will tranquilize the bear soon to bring it out of the tree safely. Update 10:30 AM: CA Fish and Wildlife is on scene. Residents and visitors are asked to please avoid the area so the bear is not startled. Animal Control and Apple Valley Police are standing by to meet the CA Dept of Fish and Wildlife to collect a bear that has wandered into town today. Residents within Ramona Avenue, Navajo, Elkalo and Nanticoke roads are advised to bring in their pets and everyone is asked to avoid the area to reduce the risk of startling the bear.
