In this video i'll be attempting to start the mk1 escort 1100 super for the first time in many years. This particular car will be undergoing a full restoration but before i start stripping the car down i'd like to see if t runs and maybe even drives???? I attempted to start this car with the help of my neighbour/friend Ian, we initially had it fire a couple of times after putting some fresh fuel in the carb only to loose spark. I tried cleaning the points but this didnt work so ordered a new points set and condensor. A couple of days later i made my second attempt armed with some new parts! Thankfully the points and condensor cured the spark issue and the little x/flow engine fired up and ran brilliantly, in person the engine sounds great(cameras always make them sound awful) I think it may have a noisey waterpump or dynamo but other then that it ran perfect. The gearstick is damaged so i'll find a seond hand replacement and try a test drive!
