It is connected to the mainland by a narrow causeway about 500 meters long, which is accessible only during low tide. Historical Background: The dargah was built in 1431 in memory of Sayyed Peer Haji Ali Shah Bukhari, a wealthy merchant from Bukhara (present-day Uzbekistan) who gave up all his worldly possessions and devoted his life to the service of humanity and Islam. After his pilgrimage (Hajj) to Mecca, he settled in Mumbai. Legend says that Haji Ali died during a journey to Mecca and miraculously, his casket floated back to the Mumbai shores and got stuck at the islet where the dargah is now located. Architecture: The structure is a fine example of Indo-Islamic architecture, made of white marble. It consists of a mosque and the dargah (tomb) of Haji Ali Shah Bukhari. The tomb is housed in a marble shrine supported by an intricately carved silver frame. The central dome and minarets reflect Mughal influence. I hope you enjoyed this video hit likes.
