The Gibson L48 was born in 1946 and was marketed as an entry-level or student model. The guitar has been equipped with different specifications over the years; both mahogany and maple were used in a variety of combinations, and the top and back and sides were generally laminated. The model remained available until 1971, when production ended. This Gibson L48 from 1960 has a laminated mahogany top combined with a laminated mahogany side and laminated maple back. The body is decorated with a cream-colored binding and a tortoise pickguard. The slim mahogany neck features a rosewood fingerboard with a 10-inch radius, making the guitar easy to play.
