Speaker Website Page: https://www.prehealthshadowing.com/co... About the Speaker Dr. Gabriela Lagreca obtained her DDS at the UCV (Universidad Central de Venezuela) in 2009. In 2012, she completed an Implant Fellowship Program in the Department of OMFS at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. She received her certificate in Prosthodontics in 2015 and further became one of the less than 50 fellows of the American Board of Prosthodontics in Massachusetts. Since 2015, Dr. Lagreca holds an Assistant Professor appointment in the Postgraduate of Prosthodontics at TUSDM, where she teaches in the classroom, clinical and preclinical prosthodontics to postdoctoral residents. Also, she was appointment Faculty Representative for the American Dental Education Association (ADEA) TUSDM Chapter and Director of the Academic Dental Career Fellowship Program (ADEA-ADCFP) where, over one year, selected dental students and residents explore the three pillars of academic careers: teaching, educational research, and service, via direct mentorship. Currently, Dr. Lagreca’s focus is on using educational technologies and the integration of online/remote resources to make teaching and learning accessible to all. Her main scholarship focus is the integration of EPA’s (Entrustable Professional Activities) as a form of assessment for postgraduate education. She is developing this novel educational research project under the guidance of the Harvard Macy Institute Program for Educators in Health Professions, in partnership with other medical and dental institutions. As a personal project, Dr. Lagreca launched The International Dentist Podcast in October of 2020. Every week, she brings meaningful conversations with educators, leaders, private practitioners, and business owners who shared their experiences and learnings of the career paths you can develop in the United States and abroad as a foreign dentist. Due to COVID-19, many in-person shadowing and clinical opportunities have been annulled. This has disrupted the paths of thousands of pre-health students as these hours are crucial for the academic and professional development needed for a successful health program applicant. Students interested in pursuing a career in medicine, nursing, pharmacy, research, physical therapy, or are just curious are encouraged to attend. Pre-Health shadowing was built to accommodate the lives of students, giving options to attend the live zoom or review the video at a later time. Students can receive a certificate verifying their participation in the program, upon completed a short assessment following the session. We host various health professionals from different backgrounds to talk about their job, education, extracurricular activities, admissions process, daily tasks, interesting cases, tips, and more.
