This video is to complement a class I taught for beginner backpackers. Below will be a bunch of helpful links, which I discuss in the video (and a few that I didn't), along with a summary of what I planned on discussing in more detail for my lecture. Feel free to ask questions or give feedback in the comments below. I recently did a few gear lists for people starting out in the USA, with estimates of costs in USD. But I would say the price would be similar in Sweden after converting the cost to SEK. Please keep in mind these lists are not complete lists of everything you need, just the main essentials. Here they are: Bare bones starter kit: plastic tarp 10, tent stakes for tarp 5, cord for guy/ridge lines 10, cheap tent 30, salvaged plastic ground cover (free), cheap synthetic sleeping bag 30, IKEA synthetic blanket to boost warmth of sleeping bag 5, foam mat 10, garbage bags (free), stainless steel pot from 2nd hand store 5, hobo wood stove (free), simple pocket knife 10, plastic rain poncho 5, water bottles (free), boil water to purify (free) or fill up on tap water (free), simple compass 5, small battery charger for your phone 15, simple first aid kit 10, whatever backpack/duffel bag/etc. you already have (free), for a grand total of about 150 USD (1300 SEK). Create and print free wilderness maps (Sweden): https://minkarta.lantmateriet.se/ Search in app stores for your smartphones (Sweden): My Map (by Lantmäteriet, and free to download), Lokalsinne (also free to download), Topo GPS (cost me 40 SEK I think). Here are some trail guides that I have written that you can follow or use for inspiration for trips: http://cesarandthewoods.blogspot.com/... You can also Google the names of various marked trails and many have their own website with maps and other good info you can use. Finally, here's a text I wrote giving general advice to new backpackers (I forgot to mention it in the video): http://cesarandthewoods.blogspot.com/... This should give any new backpackers plenty of resources to start their adventures out in nature.
