Chen Zhiping is the Vaping King of China. He is only 49 year old and once had a networth of $16 billion, now he is down to $3.1 billion in October 2024. He is very secretive and does not grant interview so not much is known about him. He was born in Wunan Province in 1975 and in 1999 he graduated from Tongji University in Shanghai with a degree in marketing. His first business was in coal in Beijing. He was swindled and lost about 2 million RMB or about US $300K. Undeterred, he went from Beijing to Shenzhen and in 2009, he founded Smoore Technology. His most important innovation is the high tech electrical coil which turned the fluid into smoke in the eCigarettes. In 2020, Smoore Technology IPO in Hong Kong. He raised $900 million US and Smoore was leading the world in vaping or eCigarettes. However in 2022 to 2024, there was a huge slump in the stock price, in part trigerred by the advent and competition from new disposable eCigarettes. His critics says his business models still cling to major partners and high tech high R&D Vaping or eCigarette models.
