Happiness is the taste of home-cooked food at Mei Yuan Hakka Delights | 梅园客家时菜 | SG Hawkers

The stall is a rare find in the local hawker scene, with its history dating back to the 1960s at Hokkien Street. Ms Lam, the 2nd generation owner, has been helping out at the stall since her teens. Made by stuffing a mixture of pork and fish in tofu and bitter gourd, Ms Lam has her unique way of serving Yong Tau Foo, a popular Hakka dish. Seemingly simple, cooking the dish goes through a few processes. A few varieties are served. Ms Lam firstly deep-fries and/or steams her Yong Yau Foo. After that, she cooks them in soup in a big pot. Just before serving, she stir fries them with loads of vegetables. The result is a taste of a mom's home-cooked dish. There are several other signatures on the menu such as Stew Pork with Mui Choy, Pineapple Meatballs, Fried Beef with Bittergourd, Bean Paste Fried Fish, and more.
