It was earlier reported that David Morales was killed in a gang style attack with dozens of assailants, but police later denied that claim. [Notes:ANCHOR VOICE] NB. This is a voiceover transcript, not a full shotlist: (vo) (sot)--covered with video of roadside memorial for victim People just go crazy and do stupid things without even thinking and they need to stop and think before they do something (vo)--mug of morales--victim Tuesday night David morales had just gotten a ride home when the person who drove him hit a two year old with his car… Morales quickly ran into his apartment complex's parking lot to see if he could help. But instead police say 3 or four men attacked him believing he was responsible for the two year olds minor injuries.. (sot)elizabeth morales/victim's sister I want everybody who knows anything to come forward so these people who did this tragic thing can be caught and make them pay.. (vo) Morales sister Elizabeth says she can't believe her brother is gone.. (sot) He was a loving person, a funny guy he would make you laugh when you're sad.. (vo) Investigators won't say if they have leads in the case but are busy apologizing for the way it was initially handled.. Early reports stated that hundreds of people stood by and watched as as many as 20 or 25 people beat morales following a juneteenth celebration attended by thousands.. Now city officials say none of that was true..
