A short cut across Windermere (saving a 15 mile drive)

There's been a ferry on Windermere for over 500 years, shortening the journey from Bowness to Sawrey by 15 miles. In this video we take a trip on the current ferry, the Mallard, from Far Sawrey to Ferry Nab. The ferry is a great short cut, shaving about 15 miles off the road trip if you were to drive round the northern or southern routes to get to the other side. It operates most days from dawn to dusk and each crossing takes about 10 minutes.
