What is Lent?

Lent is a man-made holiday established years after Christ’s resurrection to celebrate His death and resurrection. It comes back to the things that people add-in to a religion to get people involved but it is not biblically based at the times of Christ. It is established as the 40 days leading up to the death and resurrection of Christ. If we think about any of the events in the Bible, many holidays are man-made – like Christmas. These are not things that we can consider biblical holidays, but we do it to help people remember what took place. If we love God unconditionally and the whole of creation, we understand a lot more about a personal relationship with God. Maybe that was the purpose of Lent in the beginning, but God wants our heart and we should remember the suffering servant as the prophet that He was when He came to earth.
