"Pau hana" is slangy Hawaiian meaning "work's all done" - Pau Hana Friday is a very important day of the week. Led's dad, George Kaapana, composed a musical tribute to this important aspect of life and it's a lot of fun to bounce around the strings celebrating the end of chores and the beginning of fun. We have two videos of this song in our collection of clips. Back in 2016 we made our first visit to The Old Steeple in beautiful Ferndale, CA. We stayed at the Victorian Inn and played "Pau Hana Slack Key" in the gorgeous sitting room of the old hotel:    • "Pau Hana Slack Key" from Ferndale, CA   Way back in 2009 I was playing a weekly Pau Hana Friday show in the Downtown Pleasant Hill plaza and on this occasion I was joined by Ledward and his sister Lehua. As you can imagine I was totally overwhelmed by the talent surrounding me:    • Pau Hana Slack Key   Back to current day, Led and I have been playing "Pau Hana Slack Key" a lot lately so when we started running through some of our favorites for the camera it was only natural that this one came up. As usual Led is playing his Martin 000-16, I'm using my Kathy Wingert Model E, and both guitars are tuned to taropatch open G (D G D G B D from low pitch to high). I recorded the audio using a spaced pair of Schoeps CMC641 microphones into the Zoom F6. Video was shot on a pair of Panasonic Lumix GH4 cameras. Editing was done in Edius 9.
