The sun was already setting when the anticipated catch of day, the NS hazmat safety train O956with NS 911 and NS 5642 in their unique first-responders paint schemes, had just left Atlanta for the trip to Spartanburg, SC. The problem was that he still had three northbound trains immediately ahead of him, 242, 154, and 240, and was supposed to meet southbound train 243., before reaching White Sulfur, GA (an unincorporated community located just east of Gainesville, GA), where a group of railfans was waiting for him. Would he make it in daylight? Thankfully, it was early June and the days long...
