My Response to Bond Joshua Johns claim that Alberta has a prenup with Ottawa

In this short episode, I respond to a common claim in the Alberta independence debate: That Alberta’s land and resources are “tied to the Canadian Constitution,” and that leaving Canada would mean losing them. That argument gets the law completely backwards. Alberta’s resources are held by the Crown in Right of Alberta, not Ottawa, and independence is not about falling into a legal void, it’s about becoming a successor state with rights under international law. The entire point is simple: Albertans deserve the right to govern themselves, shape their own laws, and step out from under a constitutional system imposed on them. Alberta is not property.
