No. CBD products should be virtually free of THC, (less than 0.3%) which is what causes the intoxicating effect. Q. Is it legal? A. Hemp-derived CBD products (with less than 0.3% THC) are legal on the federal level in all 50 states. You can consult with state’s laws, customs offices, and the local government of anywhere you travel to ensure compliance. Q. What's "full spectrum"? A. It's the whole plant extraction, which preserves hundreds of beneficial compounds from the hemp plant, with the main one being CBD. These compounds work with each other (called an entourage effect) & the more that are present, the more effective it can be. Q. What is CBD isolate? A. This is CBD in its purest form. It's is highly processed, removing everything recognizable from the hemp plant except CBD. Q. What's "broad spectrum"? A. Full spectrum is further distilled to separate the isolated cannabinoids & terpenes. This may reduce some of the therapeutic benefits, but removes any detectable traces of THC. This is especially important for someone that gets regularly drug tested. Q. How does it work? A. Our pets, like us, have an endocannabinoid system, which is a network of cellular receptors & activators that has an important role in regulating body functions like mood, sleep, pain, memory, appetite, inflammation, nausea, stress levels & more. This system operates through chemicals called endocannabinoids, that the body produces in order to maintain balance in this system. We are sometimes not able to produce some of these chemicals, which puts our systems, & certain processes inside it, in disbalance. Supplementing with cannabinoids such as CBD, can help get that endocannabinoid system back in balance, which in turn may help aleviate resulting health issues. Q. If I/my pet is healthy, can we use CBD? A. It is always recommended to talk to your doctor/veterinarian before starting with any new supplement. CBD has shown to be very effective for overall health. So, even if you or pet does not suffer from any specific condition, it should be fine to use CBD as a daily supplement. Q. What is more effective, edibles or tinctures? A. A tincture can be used two ways: dropping oil directly into the mouth or mixing with food/beverage. When the tincture goes directly into the mouth, it’s sometimes absorbed faster into the bloodstream and can potentially bypass the GI tract. You could see the results within 20 minutes, although the benefits typically do not last as long as the other method. When a tincture is mixed with food/beverage, or you consume an edible, it passes through the digestive system and the liver. It will take longer to see the effects (up to 1-2 hours), but they tend to last for a longer duration (typically 6-8 hours). Q. Do topical products have the same health benefits as edibles or tinctures? A. No. Topical products can be very effective for minor aches & pains, skin conditions & nurturing/hyrdration, but the vast majority of health issues need to be addressed internally. Q. Can I or my pet overdose on CBD? A. Because the legalization of hemp is so recent, there is insufficient research to determine toxic levels for CBD. However, there hasn’t been a single recorded case of a CBD overdose in animals or humans to date. Anecdotally, people most commonly report sleepiness and dry mouth when they (or their pets) have taken a large serving and this can be avoided by starting with small amounts and gradually increasing the serving size.
