For this project, you can carve your own dry clay textures (and fire them!) or purchase pre-made textures (chamut)from a pottery supply store. To protect your hands while throwing on the wheel, use a mesh to separate the rough texture from the soft clay. Then, add as much textured clay as you like to your wedged clay body and you're ready to throw!
