Hello! If you're just now stumbling onto this channel, here's a tidy little sample of the video content I like to do. Big thanks to Mika & Tim over at Collab for putting this video together for me! They mined through a LOT of old content to make this! I'm the Operations Director of a non-profit exotic animal sanctuary in north Texas which means I get to hang out with rescued lions and tigers. It's pretty sweet! I've been working with these fuzzy murder machines for years and I know a few things about them, so we're pretty tite. With my videos, I try to not just show bland videos of cats and neat little cat facts, I really strive to show folks the cats' personalities as I've come to know them over the years. Also, I like to add a good scooping handful of my personality into the mix. I live in the middle of the Texas countryside, and most of my friends are cats, so I talk to myself probably a bit more than your average feller. Don't judge. Also, I sort of put my name in the title of the channel, so don't act surprised that I'm in a lot of the vids. There are big cats, and there's Derek. I feel as if it's pretty clear summation of the 'product' so to speak, but amazingly some people take issue with the fact that I inject my face and voice into the videos (most don't). I like learning stuff about science and conservation, and then I like to excitedly-yet-awkwardly ramble on camera about the stuff I learn while sporadically pausing to tell a tiger how cute her nose is. Look, I don't know how to do this whole 'social media personality' thing any other way, but people seem to really enjoy it, so I just go with it. Hope to see you in the comments section!
