If you want the benefits of a matte box or want to use 4x5 filters but you don’t use cinema lenses, this is the video for you! Matte boxes are useful for blocking out unwanted light and flares, as well as protecting your lens and letting you add filtration to your lens. The Tiltaing matte box will only go onto lenses with a diameter of 82mm, 77mm, 72mm, and 67mm, so the typical 114mm cinema lens is not compatible. The Tilta Tiltaing Mini Matte Box allows you to use 4x5.65’’ filters without using filter trays. This is a pretty nice feature for a smaller matte box, usually more expensive matte boxes come with more filter stages but having one is not bad for the price and size of this one. The mini matte box also comes with a top flag, which is a nice feature to have to block out unwanted light flares. This is another thing that makes this a nice option for a matte box, as Tilta goes above what would be expected to come with a matte box and really helps out the user by giving them the tools they would have needed to buy separately already in the box. The build is made out of carbon fiber which makes it strong and also light. The top of it has multiple ¼’’-20 and ⅜’’-16 threads, allowing you to mount additional accessories on it if you need to. If you’re trying to get more professional images from your smaller camera setup, then this mini matte box is a good option for filmmakers.
