Often I see videos that show and often encourage others to RV full time for ridiculously low costs: i.e. less than $500 per month...full time! I am troubled by this as it can encourage people to make unrealistic life choices that can potentially leave them homeless and destitute a long way from home. I think this is irresponsible and foolish. You WILL ALWAYS NEED MORE MONEY than you think you need. Money stores easily so bring as much of it as you can when you travel North America. Trying to live on $250 a month is dangerous. You will not have proper insurance, proper nutrition, nor much fun if you try to do that on a long term basis. Sure, even I can have the odd month where I don't spend much more than $1000, but that is rare. And I don't think it's fair to let others pay your bills if something should go wrong, which inevitably will happen if you don't have a contingency fund for emergencies. Certainly we all have differing means in life, but a minimum level of existence is something I think everyone deserves. If you can't afford to travel full time, wait and do it when you can. Or you may regret it. Some of the things people don't think of when traveling full time that will prevent them from going bankrupt or incurring extra costs are: medical insurance; travel medical evacuation insurance; AAA RV towing coverage; RV and auto insurance with a minimum of $1 million liability AND fire and theft coverage; emergency contingency fund; money for routine maintenance; cell and data plan costs; THESE ARE COSTS BEFORE YOU EVEN THINK OF BUYING GASOLINE, PROPANE AND FOOD. Just my thoughts on the matter. Stay safe out there everyone and keep your wheels on the ground!
